The number of dengue patients affected by Aedes mosquito bites is increasing across Sylhet. At the same time, dengue-carrying Aedes mosquito larvae are found in different parts of the city and district. On Tuesday (July 11), 5 more dengue patients were detected in Sylhet. Two of them are residents of Sylhet and three are residents of Habiganj. With this, the number of dengue patients in the department has reached 95.

A total of 87 women candidates contested in 14 reserved seats. Citizens of the metropolis elected 14 reserved councilors by voting in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Voting ended in Sylhet. Voting was done by EVM system in all the wards of the city from 8 am to 4 pm. Badruddin Ahmad Kamran was crowned mayor in the first election of Sylhet City Corporation. Ariful Haque Chowdhury was the councilor in that council. After that, Kamran held the seat for 10 consecutive years. In the third election of the city corporation, there was a fall in rhythm. Heavyweight Kamran had to be defeated by Arif. After that, Kamran was caught by Arif twice in a row.
