Maleless village in Sunamganj

A case has been filed against 73 people in the incident of conflict between two sides over dominance in Uftirpar village of Shantiganj upazila of Sunamganj. On Friday (March 17), Saiful Islam, the brother of gunshot victim Noor Alam, filed a case at Shantiganj police station, making Faruk Mia, son of deceased Abdus Sattar of Uftirpar village, the main accused and naming a total of 73 people.

It is known that on Thursday morning, two sides clashed over dominance in Uftirpar village of Shantiganj upazila of Sunamganj. During the clashes, there were allegations of firing on the enemy by mercenary terrorists. At least 15 people were injured on both sides, including 3 gunshot wounds. Shantiganj Thana police immediately arrested three people in this incident.

Incidentally, there was a long-standing dispute between Saiful Mia of Uftirpar village and Amir Ali of the same village with the village panchayat. It is alleged that Amir Ali was staying elsewhere with his family due to the pressure of four groups of the village.

Recently, when a relative died in a road accident, Amir Ali and his relatives came to the village to bury the body. On Wednesday, there was tension in the village when news spread that some people with weapons were present at Amir Ali's house.

During the clash, Noor Alam (35), son of Abdul Jalil of the village, Alipasha (40), son of Ustar Ulla, and Fazlu Mia (30), son of Manor Uddin, were shot dead by the terrorists. Also, 11 others including a woman were injured. The injured are undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical and Sunamganj Sadar Hospital.

The male members of the accused family are absconding since the incident. As a result, Uftirpar village has become manless. The families of those injured in the clash have demanded justice by arresting the accused.

Officer in charge of Shantiganj police station Khaled said, a case has been filed in the clash. 4 people have already been arrested. Attempts are being made to arrest the rest.
