Rail communication snapped as train derails in Moulvibazar
The carriage of Udayan Express train from Chittagong to Sylhet derailed at Lauachhra forest in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar. As a result, rail communication with Sylhet is closed.
The accident happened on Saturday (May 20) around 5 am.
Udayan Express passenger Alamgir Hossaini said that the train derailed very badly. No casualties were reported. This incident took place in the middle of the forest of Lauachhara. Passengers going to Sylhet have suffered due to this.
Sakhawat Hossain, master at Srimangal railway station, said that the Udayan Express train departing from Chattogram derailed in Lauachhra forest around 5 am. As far as is known, there was a storm during the night, due to which the tree fell on the railway line. The engine and two coaches were derailed when the train collided with a tree. A relief train has arrived from Kulaura which is carrying out rescue operations. The relief train leaving from Dhaka crossed the Shaistaganj railway station. After this incident, Sylhet's rail communication with the rest of the country is closed. However, no casualties were reported.
