BR cancels 4 trains on Dhaka-Sylhet route
The journey of 4 trains has been canceled due to the derailment of two coaches of Sylhet-Udayan Express leaving from Chittagong at Kamalganj in Moulvibazar.
Kulaura Railway Station Master Roman Ahmed confirmed this information on Saturday afternoon. He said that the passengers of those 4 trains can get money back with tickets. Passengers have already been informed about this.
Uttam Dev, assistant station master of Shamsher Nagar, said that there was a schedule disruption in the railways due to the derailment of the coach at Lauachhara. He said that the railway authorities have canceled the journey of 4 trains including Kalni and Jayantika Express bound for Dhaka-Sylhet.
However, Uttam Dev also said that the Parabat Express train running on the Dhaka-Sylhet route will leave Srimangal for Dhaka this afternoon.
Earlier this Saturday around 5:00 AM, two coaches of Udayan Express derailed in Lauachhara National Park area of Kamalganj. As a result, train communication with Sylhet has been stopped.
After this incident, the relief train from Akhaura started the rescue work around 12 noon today. Kamalganj's Bhanugach station master Kabir Hossain said that it will take a few hours to complete the rescue work. However, he could not confirm exactly how long it would take.
