Tier-1 confirmed unbeaten champion Moulvibazar
Moulvibazar district became the undefeated champion in tier-2 of the national championship organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. On March 17 at the Dinajpur venue, the cricketers of Moulvibazar district, which is dominated by tourists and expatriates, confirmed Tier-1 by defeating Chuadanga by 147 runs.
Team captains Shahnaz and Bappa won the toss in the last match on Friday (March 17) and proved the batting decision correct. Shahnaz scored 137 runs in the opening pair and returned to personal 79 runs. However, Bappa's 47 and Rihad's unbeaten 64 scored 248 runs off 66 balls for Moulvibazar.
Chuadanga lost all wickets for 101 runs against Moulvibazar bowlers who came down to bowl later. Shahzada scored 19 and Nirb 13 runs for the team. Meanwhile, Moulvibazar's Anup, Emon and Shakib took 3 wickets each.
In the second match on March 14, after winning the toss and deciding to field, Eamon, Shakib and Anup all took 3 wickets each for Moulvibazar, who bowled out Netrakona for just 71 runs.
Moulvibazar secured Tier-1 by chasing that run after losing 6 wickets in a low-scoring match. Emon scored 18 not out, Bappa scored 17 runs. Asif took 4 wickets for Netrakona.
Moulvibazar got off to a good start by defeating the strong Tangail district by 35 runs in the 1st game on March 10. Moulvibazar scored 192 runs in 49.5 overs. Rihad 52, Ruhel 32, Shahnaz scored 24 runs, Naimul 3 and Johnny 2 wickets for Tangail.
Playing for a target of 193 runs, Tangail were bowled out for 157 runs by Shakib's leg spin Velki. Shakib took 5 wickets and Anup took 2 wickets. Moulvibazar confirmed Tier-1 by winning 3 consecutive matches.
Ruman Majumder, who has worked with age-based teams for a long time, was with him as the coach of the Moulvibazar team. Acting President of CPAM was Faiz ur Rahman Sohail as manager. The team was captained by Shahnaz Ahmed and co-captained by Tajid.
Moulvibazar will participate in Tier-1 next year.
