SCC Election : Official campaign starts from today
Symbol allotment among candidates participating in Sylhet City Corporation election on Friday. The campaign war will begin soon after the allotment of symbols between the contending mayoral, reserved and general ward councilor posts.
Any election in Bangladesh comes with a festive atmosphere. Be it national or local government elections. Along with making a storm in the cup of tea, the constituencies are crowded with processions, meetings, road meetings, public meetings, etc.
Whether it is a city or a village, elections in Bangladesh mean discussion and criticism about the positions of candidates, as well as crowded hotels and restaurants, chatting for hours, drinking tea and distributing sweets, etc. are very familiar scenes. Then there are many more meetings in election offices, road meetings, etc.
So far the mayoral candidates have been campaigning strategically in the Sylhet City Corporation area. Even though the councilor candidates have been campaigning, no one has heard the sound of the microphone. Going from neighborhood to neighborhood. Leaflets have been distributed. However, due to the sword of electoral code of conduct, it did not happen in such a grand manner.
But this time there are no obstacles. 367 councilor candidates of 42 women and general wards of Sylhet City Corporation area and 7 mayoral candidates will enter the campaign war immediately after receiving the plaques. Distribute poster leaflets. The sound will be heard on the mic, "Let's tell the mother and sisters,... I want to vote for Marka.
But this time candidates and supporters have to be extra careful in campaigning. Previously, two mayoral candidates Anwaruzzaman Chaudhuri of Awami League and Nazrul Islam Babul of Jatiya Party have been show-caused by the Election Commission.
