In Habiganj, the worries of the farmers about Boro crop were over

Thousands of farmers were worried about the boro crops cultivated on 1 lakh 22 thousand 575 hectares of land due to the drying up of canals, bills, riverbeds in Haor area of Habiganj district due to prolonged drought and interruption of irrigation due to power shortage.

In the meantime, since Sunday (March 19) morning, relief rain has fallen from the sky across the district. The rain has brought life to vast crop fields. The dry and cracked soil of Haor softened and the sap flowed to the roots of the rice plants, and the faded rice plants became fresh again, taking on a green color.

Farmers rushed to Howre to inspect the land. Farmers are in a state of euphoria after seeing the paddy trees becoming fresh and green in the rain. Worry lines cut from the folds of the forehead.

Many people are praying with their hands up in gratitude to the creator. Some are even expressing their satisfaction by posting on Facebook.

Habiganj district NAP general secretary Farhad Chowdhury, son of a farmer family, posted a picture of the rain-soaked crop field and wrote, "The crops have died." Sujat Miah of Baniachang's Bagh Mohalla said that thur (rice grains) will come out from the trees due to rain.

If it had rained earlier or if the land had been irrigated on time, the paddy would have fallen by the middle of the month of Chaitra, he said, adding that now it will fall a little late.

Moshabbir Mia, a small farmer of Nandipara village, said that he has cultivated one ker of land. Due to power shortage, due to lack of timely irrigation and lack of timely rains, the entire crop of his land turned red and perished.

He said that due to the rain on Sunday, the paddy trees of his land have become fresh and green again. He said that if there is no hailstorm or any kind of natural disaster, by the grace of God, I will be able to raise 18/20 maunds of paddy and I will be able to eat and live with my whole family throughout the year. As it rained, he raised his hands and thanked God.

It should be noted that out of 9 upazilas of Habiganj district, Borodhan is cultivated in 6 ie Baniachang, Ajmiriganj, Nabiganj, Lakhai, Habiganj and Madhavpur upazilas.

Most of the people of these 6 upazilas are dependent on Borodhan. Sources of the District Agriculture Office have informed that Boro cultivation has been done on 1 lakh 22 thousand 575 hectares of land in these 6 upazilas this year.
