Sylhet city elections: 3 mayoral candidates in digital campaign

Only 12 more days. Sylhet City Corporation election will be held on June 21 in EVM. Election heat is increasing in the city as the polling time approaches.

While there are seven CCK mayoral candidates, three party candidates are in discussion. They are Awami League nominee Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, Jatiya Party's Nazrul Islam Babul and Islami Andolan's Hafez Maulana Mahmudul Hasan.

They got the symbol on June 2. Since then, the campaign has been going on in full swing. But the candidates are running 'digital' campaigns more. The mayoral candidates are being miked through voice recording. It contains various praise songs and promising slogans of the candidate. The 'digital campaign' in which CNG-powered auto-rickshaws are running around in different wards of the metropolis from morning to night.

Candidates are holding meetings, courtyard meetings and mass communication in different wards and places in the metropolis as per the schedule without miking. Awami League mayoral candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury exchanged views with development workers of 42 wards at Hafiz Complex on Thursday (June 8) at 12 noon. Later at 7 pm in his support Pathsabha was held at Kalighat Point and 10 pm at Baluchar Point. Besides, a road meeting was held at Makan shop area of South Surmar of City Corporation at 9 pm.

In these discussions and road meetings, Anwaruzzaman expressed his determination to make Silat a smart, advanced, digital and peaceful metropolis.

He said - 'My politics is for the welfare of people. Service to people is more important to me than personal achievement or sacrifice. And so I came into politics. If I am elected, I will make this spiritual city modern, smart and business and tourist friendly.

Central and local top leaders of Awami League were present in these road meetings and exchange meetings.

On the other hand, Jatiya Party candidate Nazrul Islam Babul and Islami Andolan candidate Hafez Maulana Mahmudul Hasan also held discussions, road meetings and public meetings at various places in the metropolis from Thursday morning to night.
