Haor Raksha Sangam Committee Rajnagar Upazila branch has formed a human chain to demand the removal of the unplanned box culvert and the construction of a new bridge along the Rajnagar-Balaganj road located on the eastern side of Haor Kowadighi.

Today Monday (March 20) at noon, Haor Raksha Sangram Committee Rajnagar Upazila organized this human chain for two hours on the new culvert of Medenimahal village of Rajnagar Upazila.

Haor Raksha Sangram Committee Rajnagar Upazila Branch Convener Master Samchuddin Ahmed presided over and district member Gauchuzzaman moderated the speech in the human chain of Haor Raksha Sangram Committee Moulvibazar District General Secretary Juned Ahmad Chowdhury, former Vice Chairman of Rajnagar Upazila Parishad Mao. Ahmad Bilal Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila President Alamgir Hossain, General Secretary Rajan Ahmad, District Member Mujahid Ahmad, Biswajit Nandi, the victim farmer Md. Khaliq, Md. Mendi Mia, Md. Islam Mia, Lutfur Rahman Master, former UP member Rezaul Islam Reza, Munsibazar Union Parishad member Shamim Tarafdar, Abdul Aziz, Haor Raksha Sangram Committee Rajnagar Upazila member Kamruddin Kamru, Dr. Farid Ahmad.

Speakers in the manabandhan said that where the government has announced the development of the communication system by keeping the natural features of Haor-Banoor, river channels and canals intact, the unplanned box culvert built by the Roads and Highways Department has become a bottleneck for the people of Haor. Due to the construction of very low culverts, the farmers and fishermen of the Haor region are facing various obstacles today.

In particular, boats cannot pass under the culvert during monsoons. As a result, cattle-buffalo fodder from haor and collection of crops produced during boro season are disrupted. On the other hand, due to the culverts, the upstream water is also blocking the flow of the water. If it rains a little, the Aman paddy upstream of Haor gets submerged in water.

Therefore, the normal life of the people of Haor Par is active and the unplanned box culverts must be removed to protect the crops and a new bridge should be constructed like the previous bridge. Meanwhile, the speakers warned and said, "We are demanding the removal of the culvert today by making a human chain.

If the demand is not met, it is also informed that a strict movement will be announced against farmers and fishermen of Haor Par.

After the human chain, a memorandum has been given to the chief engineer of the Roads and Public Ways Directorate demanding the removal of box culverts and construction of new bridges on behalf of the Rajnagar Upazila branch of Haor Raksha Sangram Committee.
