EC summons Aftab over violating code of conduct

The Election Commission (EC) has summoned the councilor candidate of Ward No 7 in the Sylhet City Corporation election for violating the code of conduct. On Monday (June 12), Sylhet Regional Election Officer Office's Senior Assistant Mizanur Rahman gave this information.

Meanwhile, Director of Public Relations Branch of the Election Commission. Shariful Alam said that in the Sylhet City Corporation election, a complaint has been received against Aftab Hossain Khan (kite symbol), councilor candidate of Ward No. 7, of armed exercise in front of the house of another rival candidate. In this regard, the issue has been publicized through CCTV footage, videos and various print and electronic media including social media. Moreover, the council candidate of that ward, Syed Mohammad Abdullah (Latim Pratik) has also filed a written complaint with the commission in this regard.

Director of Public Relations said that based on the complaints and statements, the Returning Officer investigated and submitted a report in this regard, where the truth of the incident was found. Due to the violation of Rule 30 of the City Corporation Election Conduct Rules 2016, according to Rule 31 and 32, the candidature of the concerned councilor candidate will be canceled or disciplinary action will not be taken against him, with a written statement to the Election Commission (Room No.-314, Election Building) on the next 14 The Election Commission has issued instructions to appear in person at 3 pm on June and give an explanation.
