Sunamganj : Major rivers rising again

Two days of heavy rain and India's mountain torrents have caused water levels in all the rivers and streams of Sunamganj to rise by several centimeters, including the magical, flowing rivers.

Surma, the main river of Sunamganj, is flowing slightly below the danger level, but the river is swelling. As of Thursday (June 15) morning, water is flowing 1.01 cm below the danger mark. Cherrapunji in India has recorded about 400 mm of rainfall in the last 48 hours. However, as the haors are still dry, the risk of flooding is very low.

Meanwhile, the water of the Jadukata river overflowing from the hills coming down from India yesterday, the water is flowing over the Sunamganj-Tahirpur road Bishvambhpur Shaktia canal 100 meters over the sunken road. People are moving through this road with the risk of accidents.

Sunamganj Water Development Board Executive Engineer Mamun Howladar said that due to heavy rains in Sunamganj and Cherrapunji in India, the water level of all the rivers has increased but nowhere has exceeded the danger level. More rain is likely in Sunamganj and Cherrapunji in India in the next few days. If the rainfall continues, the danger level will be exceeded. Cherrapunji, India has recorded 194 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. 200 mm of rain fell the previous day.
