Brother saved sister`s life with kidney!

A young man has created a unique example of love for his sister in the Quran Hafez. He saved his elder sister's life with one of his own kidneys. This incident has gone viral on Facebook. The young man is praised by everyone. His name is Abdur Rahim (24). And sister's name is Fahmida Bushra Jhumu (26). They are the children of visually impaired Fazlu Mia of Gangkul village of Baralekha Upazila of Moulvibazar.

Recently, Dhaka's Center for Kidney Diseases and Urology (CKD) Hospital, Professor Dr. Doctors under the leadership of Kamrul Islam successfully transplanted the kidney donated by Rahim into Jhumu's body. Currently, both the brothers and sisters are healthy.

Meanwhile, the people of the area have contributed the most towards the collection of Fahmida's medical expenses. They formed a fund for Fahmida's treatment in a few months and collected about 17 lakh rupees. Of this, about 15 lakh rupees were spent on Fahmida's treatment.

According to local sources and Fahmida's family, Zaheed Ahmed, a resident of Dubai from Barni village of the upazila, got married to Fahmida Bushra Jhumu last year. After a month Fahmida's husband moved abroad. Meanwhile, Fahmida was suddenly diagnosed with kidney problems. Fahmida also moved to her father's house. After an examination, the doctor told Fahimda that her two kidneys were damaged. Since then, Fahmida's husband has not taken any notice. Even after dialysis, his physical condition was not improving. In this situation it is like darkness in Fahimda and her family. Because it was not at all possible for the family to bear the cost of Fahmida's treatment. And who will give Fahmida a kidney? In this situation, Fahimda's younger brother Qur'an Hafez Abdur Rahim stood next to him.

He decided to donate one of his kidneys to his sister. Fahmida's kidney was matched with Rahim's kidney after testing. But even if a kidney is found, money becomes an obstacle. Because where will Fahima's family get so much money for medical expenses? Fahmida's family informed relatives and local people. The people of the area stood by Fahmida. They formed the 'Fahimda Medical Assistance Fund' to bear the expenses of Fahimda's treatment. Then the collection of money started. Different people raised their hands in the country and abroad. In about four months, 17 lakh rupees were collected in the fund. With that money, the doctors successfully transplanted the kidney in Jhumura's body given by Rahim of the Center for Kidney Diseases and Urology (CKD) Hospital in Dhaka on March 3 of this month.

Hafiz Abdur Rahim said about giving a kidney to his sister, "My sister loves me very much. So I gave my kidney to save him. The kidney I donated was successfully transplanted into his body. Now we are healthy by the grace of Allah. He will stay in the hospital for a few more days. He said that a lot of money has been spent on the treatment of his sister. The people of the area stood by my sister by forming a fund. He thanked everyone.

Convener of Fahimda Medical Support Fund and member of local Ward No. 9 (UP) Sahedul Islam Sumon and member Faishal Rana said on Monday afternoon that 1.7 million taka has been collected by forming a fund for the treatment of Fahimda Bushra Jhumu with the help of everyone from home and abroad. From this money, 15 lakhs were spent on Fahmida's treatment. They said, to save Fahmida, her brother Hafiz Abdur Rahim has set a unique example of sister's love for brother by donating a kidney.
