Police arrested 8 people including 7 gamblers in a separate operation in Rajnagar of Moulvibazar. On Monday night (March 21), they were arrested from Aminabad Cha Bagan in Uttarbhag Union of Upazila and Ilashpur area of Tengra Union.

According to the police, the police of Rajnagar police station went on a raid on the news that gambling is going on in the rubber garden area of line number 5 of Aminabad tea garden in the upazila's Uttarbhag union. 7 people were arrested while gambling from there.

The arrested are- Delwar Hossain (34) son of deceased Ataur Rahman of Mutukpur village of Uttarbhag union of the upazila, Shamim Ahmed (25) son of Hafiz Mia of Chanbhag village, Gapesh Pal (48) son of deceased Subal Pal of Indeswar tea garden, Radhashyam Rabidas son of Ramjanam Rabidas of Chanbag tea garden. (25), Jiten Bauri (28) son of Manoranjan Bauri of the same Bagan, Sumon Mia (22) son of Abdul Ali Kanar of Baradal village, Loych Ahmed (32) son of Matlib Mia of Karimpur village of Munsibazar union.

Gambling cards and cash worth Tk 1,830 were seized from them. Police said that a gambler who was with them ran away. Meanwhile, Champa Lal's son Sanjit, a fugitive on warrant, was arrested from Ilashpur village of Tengra Union of the upazila at around 11 o'clock that night.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajnagar Police Station Vinay Bhushan Roy said that 8 people including gamblers were arrested in the police operation. A case has been filed against the gamblers. The accused have been sent to court.
