Father and son arrested in Baralekha

The police have arrested father and son in the case of murder of a day laborer named Jablu Ahmad (22) in Baralekha of Moulvibazar. They were arrested from Gutma-Guchchagram of Nasirnagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria District around 6 am on Thursday (March 23). The arrested are Ujjal Mia (25) accused number three in the murder case and his father Manu Mia (60) accused number four.

The house of the accused is in Gutma-Guchchagram of Nasirnagar, but currently they are living in Mahdikona Shelter of Baralekha Upazila. According to the police, the father and son were sent to jail by the court on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier on March 09, Shahid Ahmed, the father of Jablu who was killed on the charge of killing his son, filed a murder case with the police station by naming Kajal Miah, Sajal Miah, Ujjal Miah and their father Manu Miah and their father Manu Miah and Yashin Ali's son Ali Ahmad and Jabril Miah of Mahdikona upazila.

According to the police and the affidavit of the case, the deceased Jabalu Ahmad is a day laborer by profession. Accused No. 2 in the case used to do decoration work with Sajal Mia Jablu on various occasions. On February 21 this year at around six in the evening, in front of Mahdikona shelter of the upazila, Sajal and Jabulu had an argument over the sharing of work money. Meanwhile, Sajal's brother Kajal, Ujjal and their father Manu Mia attacked Jablu. Then Kajal Mia hit Jablu's chest with a sharp knife in her hand. Similarly, Sajal Mia hit Jablu in the stomach with a sharp knife.

Meanwhile, the other accused Ujjal Mia, Manu Mia, Ali Ahmad, Jabril Mia kept beating Jabulu with a stick with the intention of killing him. At one stage, Jabalu fell to the ground but the accused tried to strangle him. Later, hearing Jablu's screams, the locals came forward and rescued Jablu from the clutches of the accused and admitted him to the Upazila Health Complex. After the first treatment there, the doctor on duty sent Jabulu to Sylhet Osmani Hospital. When he got well there, his relatives brought him home.

After that, when Jablu's condition deteriorated again, he was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. He was again taken to Sylhet Osmani Hospital as his condition was critical. Jabalu died on March 8 at 10 pm while undergoing treatment there.

Jablu's father, Shaheed Ahmed, who was killed in this incident, filed a case of murder by registering the names of six people at the police station. In view of the case, the police raided Gutma-Guchchagram of Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Thursday (March 23) around six in the morning and arrested the accused Ujjal Mia and his father Manu Mia.

The investigating officer of the case, SI Ataur Rahman of Baralekha Police Station said on Thursday afternoon that the accused father and son have been arrested in the case of his father on the charge of killing day laborer Jabloo. They have been sent to jail by court. Efforts are on to arrest the other accused in the case.
