Qatar expatriates died on Barlekha road!

A Qatari expatriate named Naeem Ahmad (24) was killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle at Barlekha in Moulvibazar. Another person named Mizanur Rahman (25) was seriously injured in this incident. He was admitted to Sylhet Al-Haramain Hospital in critical condition.

The accident took place in front of the Sonar Bangla filling station in Kathalatli Bazar on the Barlekha-Moulvibazar regional highway on Sunday (March 12) around 7:30 pm. The autorickshaw driver fled after the incident. On receiving the information, the police seized the autorickshaw involved in the accident. The deceased is the son of late Hochan Ahmad of Shimulya village in southern part of northern UP of Naeem Upazila and the injured is the son of deceased Shahidur Rahman of the same village of Mizanur.

According to local sources and relatives of the victims, Naeem and Mizanur have been in Qatar for a long time. Naeem works in a cloth shop there and works in a company in Mizanu. Recently they both came to the country on vacation. At 7:30 pm on Sunday, Naeem and Mizanur were going to Baralekha Sadar on a motorcycle from Kathaltali Bazaar. Their motorcycle collided head-on with a CNG-powered autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction as soon as they reached the Sonar Bangla filling station in Kathaltali Bazar on the Baralekha-Moulvibazar regional highway.

Naeem and Mizanur fell from the motorcycle and got seriously injured. The local people quickly rescued them and first took them to the Upazila Health Complex. As the condition is serious, the doctor on duty sent them both to Sylhet for better treatment. After being taken to Sylhet Al-Haramain Hospital, Naeem was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty at around 9pm. And seriously injured Mizanur is being treated in the same hospital.

Javed Ahmad, the cousin of the injured Mizanur Rahman, said around 12:30 pm on Sunday that the doctors said that Mizanur had suffered a serious head injury. He was also injured in his left hand. His head and hands are being x-rayed. He is being taken to the operation theatre.

Fazal Mahmood Palash, a member of Ward No. 1 of Dakshinbhag North UP, confirmed the death of one person in the accident and said that Naeem died in the accident. And Mizanur's condition is serious. He was admitted to Sylhet Alharamain Hospital.

Sub Inspector (SI) of Barlekha police station Ataur Rahman said, after receiving information about the accident, the CNG-driven auto-rickshaw was impounded after going to the spot at eight o'clock in the night. However, the driver of the car was not found. One of the two injured in the accident has died.
