Rajmahal and Swapno of Sylhet city fined, cockroaches in food
The National Directorate of Consumer Rights and Protection has fined Rajmahal and Sapna Supershop in Shibganj area of Sylhet Nagar.
On Thursday (April 6) at noon, the team of the Sylhet office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights and Protection conducted a mobile court and fined these two companies.
In the raid, Rajmahal Sweets and Fire Foods located in Shibganj was fined due to the untidy, dirty and cockroach-infested premises of iftar products.
Mohammad Arif Mia, Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Sylhet, said the operation was conducted at Rajmahal Sweets and Fire Food in Shibganj at noon. During the raid, the Iftar material preparation area of Rajmahal was found untidy and dirty. At the same time, they were fined 10,000 taka for having cockroaches in the food.
Mega shop 'Swapn' in Shivganj was fined for cheating consumers by selling watermelons at extra cost.
Mohammad Arif Mia, Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Sylhet, said that consumers were being cheated by selling watermelons at a higher price than the purchase price at 'Swapn' in Shibganj. They have been fined 15,000 taka after getting proof of this.
Mohammad Arif Mia said that such operation will continue.
