Three BGB members blocked in Moulvibazar!
It has been alleged that three BGB members were physically assaulted while raiding the house of a smuggler in Kulaura, Moulvibazar. The incident took place in Gazipur area of Sadar Union of the upazila on Wednesday (April 12) afternoon. Later, a team of Thana police went to the spot and rescued three BGB members.
The BGB members are Murichra Camp Habildar Kazi Jalal Uddin, Naik Amirul Hasan and Sepoy Sabbir Ahmad.
According to local, BGB and police sources, a team of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) Murichhara camp went to the house of smuggler Mozammil in Gazipur area on Wednesday afternoon to rescue the smugglers. When the BGB members went to Mozammil's house at around 12 noon, Mozammil fled through the back door of the house when he sensed the presence of the BGB. While escaping, he fell into a canal and was seriously injured. Apart from this, BGB members also demanded extortion from him, the residents alleged. The local mob got angry and blocked the three BGB members and physically assaulted them.
On receiving the information, SI Vidyut Purkayastha of Kulaura police station went to the spot and calmed down the situation.
Eyewitness and joint general secretary of Jaychandi Union Chhatra League Akash Ahmed said that BGB members came to Mozammil's house after a few days and harassed him in the name of raid. On Wednesday afternoon, Mozammil came to Mozammil's house and demanded money, but he hit the BGB with a stick on his leg as he could not pay the money. Later, on his loud shouts, the local crowd gathered and blocked the BGB members.
Nadeem Mahmud Raju, UP member of Ward No. 4 of Sadar Union, said that he went to the spot after the local people informed him. Later the police was informed as the situation calmed down. Denying the issue of subscription, BGB's Murichra camp habildar Kazi Jalal Uddin said that they went to raid Mozammil's house based on secret information that there were Indian illegal bidis in his house. Sensing the presence of the BGB, Mozammil escaped through the back door of his house and fell into a canal and suffered leg pain. At that time, before we could understand anything, the local crowd gathered and blocked us and physically assaulted us.
In this regard, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Kulaura police station. Abduch Chalek said that after receiving the information, the police went to the spot and rescued the blocked BGB members.
