Children drown in water-filled pit in Moulvibazar
A two-and-a-half-year-old child died after drowning in Moulvibazar's Juri. The incident took place in Goalbari Union of Juri Upazila on Wednesday (April 12) afternoon.
According to local sources, the two-and-a-half-year-old child of rickshaw driver Abdush Shukur of Nawabazar Dwahpara village of the upazila fell into the pond near the house at around 4 pm on Wednesday without the family's knowledge. On receiving the news, the family took the child to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The deceased child's uncle Sharif Uddin said that Abdush Shukur has three daughters and a younger son. When the beloved son of the family fell into the pond without everyone's knowledge, the family rescued him and took him to the hospital.
Dr. Nishat Jahanworking at Juri Upazila Health Complex confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the child died before being brought to the hospital.
