US does not want a caretaker government in Bangladesh: A.K Momen
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has commented that the United States does not want a caretaker government in Bangladesh. The minister said this in response to questions from journalists at a function in Sylhet on Friday afternoon.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen spoke to reporters after giving monetary donations to the helpless and distressed people on behalf of the Momen Foundation at Sylhet District Commissioner's office at 4 pm.
The foreign minister said, 'The United States is very happy with the development of Bangladesh. They want to be partners in our development. That's why they pay special attention to us. We have become a model country. They want our elections to be free and fair. They do not want a caretaker government. They want elections according to the rules we have, the laws of our country. For transparent election we have created keys, created voter list, with photo ID, made ballot box transparent. We had a strong election commission - they were happy with it.'
AK Abdul Momen said, "The United States wants fewer fights during elections." In their country too, on January 6, some people died of Congress. That's why they want to choose an ideal in Bangladesh to show the world that we are very good. Bangladesh is a land of magic. We can do what we want. Once Rana Plaza was troubled, now it is the 10 most eco-friendly factories in the world. 8 of them are in Bangladesh.
The foreign minister said, 'They want us to conduct fair and transparent elections. But transparent election will not happen only if you want. That requires the active cooperation of all parties. The government party, the opposition party, the electorate, the various administrations—everyone needs sincerity. The Sheikh Hasina government is determined to hold a free-fair election. All other parties need help. They should come with sincerity. There is no other way to form the government except elections.
When asked about the foreign observer in the city corporation election, the minister said, "No country in the world accepts foreign observers." We are a country where foreigners are brought. Last time 25 thousand people are coming. Bringing them will increase the tax. They have to pay the tax for accommodation. If you raise taxes, you will start shouting again. No foreign observer is accepted anywhere in the world. We still allowed.
Regarding the international response to the implementation of the Digital Security Act, Abdul Momen said, "We have said about the Digital Security Act, its use has not been done properly in some cases. All countries of the world have laws. America has tougher laws. Where there has been a breach, we will rectify and America is satisfied with that. They did not ask for the law to be changed. Said that the application is not abused or misused.
