Two workers died after falling into septic tank in Juri
Two workers died after falling into a septic tank at Juri in Moulvibazar district. On Monday (April 17) afternoon, the two workers died while working on the septic tank of Faizul Islam's under-construction building on Station Road of West Juri Union of the upazila.
The two dead workers are Md. Shaheen Mia (22), son of Abdul Khalik of Bardhamai village of Purbajuri union of the upazila and Kamrul Islam (25), son of Moktar Ali of Montail village of Jaifarnagar union.
It is known that some workers are working regularly in the under-construction building of Faizul Islam on the station road of West Juri Union of the upazila. During the incident, a worker first entered to open the sutter of the septic tank of the building under construction and was injured due to toxic gas inside. When another person came down to rescue him, both died from the poisonous gas of the septic tank. After getting information about the incident, Kulaura Fire Service rescued them and sent them to the hospital. Upazila Medical Officer Dr. Nishat Jahan declared them dead.
West Juri Union Parishad Chairman Md. Anfar Ali said that at around one in the afternoon, the Kulaura Fire Service was first informed about the injury of these two workers who came down to work on the safety tank of the under-construction building of Faizul Islam on Station Road. A team of fire service reached the spot in the presence of the police and recovered the bodies of the two people lying in the septic tank and sent them to the Upazila Health Complex.
Shankar Roy, leader of Kulaura Fire Service, said that after receiving the information, a team of ours went to the spot and recovered their bodies and sent them to the hospital. At this time, he also said that they may die due to toxic gas in the safety tank.
Upazila Medical Officer Dr. Nishat Jahan confirmed the death of the two who were in the safety tank and said that both died on the spot.
Officers-in-charge (OC) of Juri police station Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain confirmed the death of the two people who were in the safety tank and said that the bodies have been sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
