Indefinite strike of transport workers in Habiganj withdrawn

The strike of the District Bus Minibus Coach and Microbus Workers Union has been called off for the unreasonable demand of keeping an ambulance in the premises of Habiganj Sadar Hospital.

On Sunday (March 19) at 8 pm, the general secretary of the district labor union, Sajib Ali, announced the withdrawal of the strike. In an emergency meeting presided over by district administrator Ishrat Jahan in his conference room, it was announced that the workers' strike would be called off.

All types of public transport are running as usual in Habiganj from Monday (March 20) morning.

Dr. Habiganj 250-bed district headquarters hospital supervisor attended the emergency meeting. Aminul Islam Sarkar, Additional District Magistrate Priyanka Pal, Habiganj Municipality Mayor Ataur Rahman Salim, Assistant Director of NSI. Azmul Hossain, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Mukhlishur Rahman, Assistant Director of BRTA Habiganj Office Md. Habibur Rahman, President of Habiganj Motar Malik Samiti. Fazlur Rahman Chowdhury and others. Labor leaders were also present in the meeting.

Earlier on Saturday (March 18) Habiganj 250-bed district headquarters hospital premises, including ambulance parking, an indefinite labor strike was called in Habiganj for 9 demands. However, the journalists working in Habiganj rejected their call.
On the other hand, the strike started on Sunday (March 19) from dawn. However, the transport workers are returning to work from Monday night as the strike has been called off with various assurances from the administration.
