Historic May Day celebrated in Moulvibazar

Today is the first of May, the Great May Day. This year, keeping in mind the theme of "Worker-Owner Unity, Build Smart Bangladesh", Moulvibazar District Administration and Labor Directorate, Srimangal Moulvibazar organized a discussion meeting on the occasion of Great May Day 2023 at District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium on Monday (May 1).

District Child Affairs Officer Jasim Uddin Masud presided over the program and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Urmi Binte Salam presided over the event. Moulvibazar-3 Constituency Member of Parliament Neshar Ahmad was present as the chief guest in the event.

Member of Parliament of Moulvibazar-Habiganj reserved women's constituency Syeda Zohra Alauddin, Zilla Parishad Chairman Michabahur Rahman, Upazila Parishad Chairman and Moulvibazar Chamber of Commerce President were present as special guests in the event. Kamal Hossain, Municipal Mayor Fazlur Rahman, Superintendent of Police Md. Zakaria, Zilla Parishad Chairman Michabahur Rahman and others.

Besides, President of Bangladesh Tea Plantation Employees Union and Moulvibazar District General Secretary of Jatiya Sramik League were also present as guests. Zakaria Ahmad.

Deputy Director of Labor Department, (Srimangal) Moulvibazar and Registrar of Trade Union Mohammad Nahidul Islam gave welcome speech.

It is celebrated worldwide on 1st May every year. It is a day to celebrate the International Labor Movement. May 1st is a national holiday in about 80 countries of the world including India and Bangladesh.

It should be noted that in 1886 AD, Masaka of Hay Market in Chicago, USA is celebrated to commemorate the sacrifice of the martyrs.
