Dr. Urmi Binte Salam joins as new DC of Moulvibazar

Dr. Urmi Binte Salam has joined as a new Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Moulvibazar .Yesterday Monday (April 3) he joined the new workplace. Outgoing Deputy Commissioner Mir Nahid Ahsan congratulated him.

By order of the President on March 12, Dr. Urmi Binte Salam was appointed as Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Moulvibazar.

Meanwhile, Mir Nahid Ahsan has been transferred to the Ministry of Public Administration as Deputy Secretary. He served as the Deputy Commissioner of Moulvibazar for about two years and nine months. He was given a farewell reception by various organizations and institutions including district and upazila administration and municipalities.

Education and work of Dr. Urmi Binte Salam 
Dr. Urmi Binte Salam was born on August 1, 1981 in a noble Muslim family in Comilla district. Father's name is Mohammad Abdus Salam and mother's name is Halima Akhtar.

Dr. Urmi Binte Salam is a BCS 25th batch officer. He joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) cadre on 21 August 2006.

He was posted as Assistant Commissioner in Rajshahi Division and spent his apprenticeship in District Commissioner's Office, Bogra. After that he served as Assistant Commissioner (Land) in Companyganj Upazila of Noakhali District. Then served as a successful upazila executive officer in Kuliarchar upazila of Kishoreganj district. Also, worked at various times in the Cabinet Department and Ministry of Public Administration.

Dr. Dr. Urmi Binte Salam's husband. Md. Nazmul Kabir Chowdhury is teaching in the chemistry department of Dhaka College. They are parents of two sons. The elder son Nabhan Kabir Chowdhury and the younger son Najhan Chowdhury.

Dr. Urmi Binte Salam  educational career is very rich. He passed secondary in 1996 and higher secondary in 1998. After that, he obtained Bachelor's degree (Honours) in 2002 and Master's degree in 2003 from English Department of Dhaka University. Later, he studied Humanities Technology from Universiti Malaysia Pahang and was awarded a doctorate degree in 2015.

Dr. Urmi Binte Salam has successfully completed various domestic and foreign trainings. Received Negotiation Technical and Conflict Management training from Biam Foundation along with basic training, law and administration courses.
Besides, received training in "Technology Management" under Doctor of Philosophy Program in Malaysia and completed Mid career Training in India. Traveled to Malaysia, Italy and Thailand for career purposes.

The branch of achievement in education and career is also dry. In 2013, he won a silver medal at the Creation, Innovation, Technology and Research Expo in Malaysia. In the same year, he was awarded the bronze medal at the PECIPTA Convention in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was honored as the best upazila executive officer in Dhaka and Mymensingh division in the field of primary education. Honored as Best Upazila Nirbahi Officer in 2018 Digital Innovation Fair.
