5 families destitute after fire in Moulvibazar
A fire incident occurred in Shyamoli area of Moulvibazar city. Five houses have been burned and the families have become destitute. This incident happened on Sunday (April 23) around 8 pm. The fire was brought under control in about an hour.
Local Municipal Councilor Advocate Partha Sarthi Pal told Eye News that the fire started around 8:30 pm on Sunday.
At this time, the locals tried to put out the fire with sand, bags and water. Immediately, Mayor Fazlur Rahman and fire service fighters also came. Everything came under control around 9 pm. Water is easily available as there is a reservoir next to it. Otherwise there would have been more damage.
Jitu Talukdar, Station Officer of Fire Service Moulvibazar told Eye News, we got the news at 7:47 pm. Immediately the fire fighters left. The fire was brought under control within twenty minutes. It takes 40 minutes to fully control. Initially, the damage is estimated to be around 10 lakh rupees. No one was hurt. The rooms were locked. Due to which the amount of damage has increased.
Jitu Talukder said that due to the quick action, around 40 lakh worth of goods and houses have been saved.
Municipal councilor Partha Sarathi Pal said the houses were made of tin sheds. 8 houses together. Five houses were completely burnt and the families were left destitute. A CNG driver named Fayshal said his 3 lakh rupees have been burnt, he is not getting 5 bhari gold. The owner of this house is London resident Siraj Uddin.
The municipal council said, I immediately gave saree-lungi and food to the families. The mayor said that all kinds of cooperation will be provided by the municipality. Food will be given until they return to normal. The rooms will be cleaned. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Moulvibazar. Urmi bint Salam visited the spot on Sunday night.
