Buddha Purnima being celebrated in Sylhet
A peace procession has been taken out in Sylhet city on the occasion of the auspicious Buddha Purnima. This peace procession was taken out on the initiative of Sylhet Buddhist Association on Thursday (May 4) afternoon.
The procession started from under the Queen Bridge and went around the various roads of the city before a short meeting was held in front of the central Shaheed Minar.
Bangladesh Awami League organizing secretary Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel spoke as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Sylhet Buddhist Association president Nishutosh Barua and vice president Chandra Shekhar Barua.
Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League's organizing secretary said as a special guest. Arman Ahmed Shiplu, Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad Sylhet District President Advocate Pradeep Kumar Bhattacharya, CHT International Buddhist Monastery and Meditation Center Narayanganj Founder Director Bhadanta Kalyan Jyoti Ther, Councilor Iliachur Rahman Ilyach.
Among others present were Sylhet Buddhist Vihara Principal Bhadanta Sanghananda Mahather, Vice-Principal Bhadanta Mahanam Bhikkhu, Adviser to Shubo Buddha Purnima and Mahather Baranottara Samnamna Parishad-2023 Jyoti Mitra Barua, Convener Engineer Diptiman Barua, General Secretary of Sylhet Buddhist Association Babu Palash Barua, Shubo Buddha Barachokha Chakma, Joint Convener of Purnima and Mahath's Baranottara Sammanna Parishad-2023 and others.
