Press council seminar and exchange meeting in Moulvibazar
A seminar and discussion meeting was held in Moulvibazar on the topic of Notification of Press Council Act 1974 and Code of Conduct and Right to Information Act organized by Bangladesh Press Council.
Journalists from Moulvibazar's print, electronic and online media participated in the conference room at Sakit House on Tuesday afternoon.
Chairman of Bangladesh Press Council Justice Nizamul Haque Nasim was the chief guest in the meeting presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Sabik) of Moulvibazar Prabhanshu Som Mahan. Bangladesh Press Council Member Secretary Masud Khan and Moulvibazar Additional Superintendent of Police Sudshan Kumar Roy were special guests.
The chief guest said that if a journalist commits a mistake or wrongdoing, the existing law of the Press Council will punish him with reprimand. For this reason the defendants are litigants in other courts. Earlier, fewer cases were received in Bangladesh Press Council, but now 22-23 cases are received in a year. Now the work of amending the law is nearing completion.
