SCC Elections: 8 mayoral aspirants collected nomination

On the occasion of the Sylhet City Corporation election, another person has collected nomination papers for the post of Mayor. A total of 418 women and men have purchased nominations for the post of mayor and 8 councilors. Candidates have been collecting nomination forms from the returning officer of the Sylhet regional election office since April 27. Can be collected till 23 May.

Sylhet Regional Election Office Media Cell (City Election) Officer Syed Kamal Hossain said that a total of 426 people bought nomination forms for the post of mayor and councilor till 4 pm on Tuesday (May 16). Among them, 8 are in the post of mayor and 418 in the post of councilor.
So far, among the 8 people who have bought nominations for the post of mayor, the candidate of the party symbol is - Md. Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury (boat), Nazrul Islam Babul (plough) and Hafiz Maulana Mahmuduul Hasan (hand fan). And as an individual, Mohammad Abdul Hanif Kutu, Mohammad Abdul Mannan Khan, Samshun Nur Talukdar, Md. Chalah Uddin Rimon and Maulana Zahid Uddin Chowdhury bought the nomination.

Out of 418 candidates, 89 in 14 reserved wards (female councilors) and 329 in 42 general wards (male councilors) purchased nomination forms.

Syed Kamal Hossain also said - among the reserved (women councillors) 2 people in Ward No. 1, 5 people in Ward No. 3, 7 people in Ward No. 4, 8 people in Ward No. 5, 4 people in Ward No. 6, 3 people in Ward No. 7, 4 in Ward No. 7. John, 5 people in Ward No. 8, 6 people in Ward No. 9, 9 people in Ward No. 10, 9 people in Ward No. 12, 9 people in Ward No. 13, 13 people in Ward No. 14 and 5 people in Ward No. 14 bought nomination forms.

And among general (male councillors) so far 4 people in ward no. 1, 3 people in ward no. 2, 4 people in ward no. 3, 4 people in ward no. 4, 6 people in ward no. 5, 5 people in ward no. 6, 4 people in ward no. 8, 11 in ward no. 8. Note that Sylhet City Corporation election will be held on EVM on 21st June. Last date for submission of nomination papers is May 23. Nomination papers will be selected on May 25. And the deadline for withdrawal of nomination papers is June 1.

Sylhet City Corporation was established in 2002. There are 42 wards in this city of 79.50 square kilometers. Total voters are 4 lakh 86 thousand 605 people. Among them 2 lakh 53 thousand 763 men and 2 lakh 32 thousand 842 women. Total centers 190 and polling booths 1 thousand 364. Sylhet City Corporation elections will be held for the fifth time on June 21.
