Sylhet petrol pump-CNG station will be closed from June 4
The three concerned organizations have called for an indefinite strike after miscreants attacked a petrol pump and a CNG station on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway and did not arrest them for violating the rules and not supplying gas. The leaders of the organization have announced that all petrol pumps and CNG stations in Sylhet district will be closed from June 4.
Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association, Bangladesh Petroleum Dealers Distributors Agents and Petrol Pump Owners Association, Bangladesh Tanklory Owners Association and LPG-Tanklory Workers Union jointly called the strike.
Bangladesh CNG Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association Divisional President Amiruzzaman Chowdhury confirmed the matter on Tuesday (May 30) afternoon.
He said that some miscreants in the name of Chhatra League broke the queue of customers to buy fuel at R Rahman and Sons filling station of Pirerbazar of Sylhet Shahparan police station last Friday. When the employees of the filling station stopped them, the miscreants attacked them. Some workers of the filling station were injured.
Amiruzzaman Chowdhury said that the owner of the filling station filed a case the day after the incident. But initially the police hesitated to take the case. Besides, the accused took bail on the first day of the case. We are afraid of another attack. Therefore, I have called this strike to demand justice for the guilty.
He also said that terrorists often attack various CNG stations and petrol pumps in Sylhet without any reason. The pump and station owners were affected. But the administration hardly takes any action. So we have this strike as a protest.
