Expatriates coming to Sylhet for participate election campaign

Election mood is blowing in Sylhet city. Sylhet City Corporation election will be held on June 21. The candidates will start their official campaign after getting the symbols from Friday. Any election in Sylhet means election winds will blow in the United Kingdom and the United States as well. Because at least five lakh Sylhets live in these two countries.

Therefore, in any election, some of these expatriate families are candidates. From ordinary members of the Union Parishad to members of parliament and mayors, there are expatriates. Therefore, when the election comes, a kind of festive mood begins in these expatriate families.

Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, the mayoral candidate supported by the Awami League in the Sylhet city election, is also a resident of the UK. He served as joint secretary of United Kingdom Awami League. All of his family are UK expatriates. Meanwhile, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury's wife Holi Chowdhury is staying in Sylhet and campaigning for her husband.

Before Anwaruzzaman, Habibur Rahman Habib, a UK expatriate, was elected as a Member of Parliament in Sylhet 3 constituencies. He served as the Relief and Rehabilitation Secretary of United Kingdom Awami League. After being elected MP, he was made a member of Sylhet District Awami League Executive Committee. This is how the expatriates of Sylhet are gradually getting elected as public representatives. And so when the elections came, hundreds of expatriates rushed to Sylhet. This time was no exception.

Ahead of the Sylhet City Corporation election, at least 500 leaders and activists from United Kingdom and the United States Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League have come to the country to participate in the election campaign of Bangladesh Awami League nominated mayoral candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury.

Last Thursday, about two hundred leaders of United Kingdom Jubo League came to Sylhet. District and metropolitan Awami League leaders including Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury welcomed them with flowers at Sylhet Osmani International Airport.

On Thursday morning, this delegation led by the president and general secretary of UK Jubo League came to Sylhet to work in the field on behalf of Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury. Sylhet District Jubo League President Shamim Ahmad VP, Golapganj Mayor Aminul Islam Rabel, Metropolitan Jubo League President Alam Khan Mukti, District Jubo League General Secretary Md. Shamim Ahmed, General Secretary of Metropolitan Jubo League Musfiq Zaigir Dar, President of London Metropolitan Jubo League Tarek Ahmed and others.

The delegation includes- President of Jubo League UK branch and Central Jubo League member Fakhrul Islam Madhu and Madhu's wife Mrs. Saleha Islam, UK Jubo League Vice President Sabul Ahmed, Mahbub Ahmed, General Secretary Salim Ahmed Khan, Joint General Secretary Sarjan Khan, Hafizur Rahman Salim, London Metropolitan Jubo League in charge. Leaders including president Zubair Siddiqui Salim and Jubo League leader Mutshir Chowdhury Janis.

At that time, General Secretary of United Kingdom Jubo League Salim Ahmad Khan said, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury is the absolute friend of the entire Europe and the Middle East, including the UK diaspora. He is always vigilant in protecting the interests of expatriates in various countries including the United Kingdom. We have been to many diaspora countries and many more are coming. United Kingdom Jubo League President Fakhrul Islam Madhu said, we have nothing to ask for. I came home with my colleagues. To work for my relative, friend Anwaruzzaman and boat.

District Jubo League leader Sajlu Laskar said that Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury has made a special contribution to the welfare of expatriates due to working in the European community. As a result, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury has a good relationship with Bangladeshi expatriates staying in different countries. And that is why expatriates are coming in droves. Apart from Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, their relatives are coming to the country to campaign on behalf of various councilor candidates.
