Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury voted his own center
Awami League mayoral candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury voted in the city corporation election. He said, voting is taking place in a very beautiful environment. He urged the people of the city to come to the center to vote and vote on the boat symbol.
Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury cast his vote at Pathantula Shahjalal Jamia Islamia Kamil Madrasa Center of Ward No. 8 of the City Corporation at around 8:30 am on Wednesday. He spoke to reporters after voting.
In response to a question, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury said, "I am very optimistic about winning." If I am defeated, I will take the first flower to the house of whoever wins.'
In response to another question, this Awami League candidate said, 'I believe in democracy. My party Awami League was and is associated with all democratic movements including the country's freedom struggle. Even if I lose the election, I will accept the election result.
Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury said, "There was fear of rain, but the weather is good now. It didn't rain. Hopefully, the attendance of voters will be good.
The Awami League candidate said, "The environment is very good. There will be a peaceful and acceptable election, God willing.
Other mayoral candidates do not have polling agents in various centres. When asked the reason for this, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury said, 'Sylhet City Corporation needs about 1,300 polling agents in 190 centers. If I can't give agents in all centers, it is not the responsibility of others.'
Before coming to vote, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury visited the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and prayed in the morning.
People related to the election said that there are three separate centers in the three buildings of Pathantula Shahjalal Jamia Islamia Kamil Madrasa in the west, east and south. Total voters in these centers are 7 thousand 951 people. All three centers have been declared 'critical' (at risk) by law enforcement agencies.
Meanwhile, in a press release on Tuesday afternoon, the media wing of the Awami League candidate said that during the polling, the city dwellers and the party leaders are being requested to cooperate with the concerned parties in order to maintain the environment in which votes are taken peacefully.
In case of special needs, the media wing advised to contact the chief election agent of the mayoral candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury and the central organizing secretary of Awami League, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel.
Apart from this, a statement of the Awami League candidate was sent in the same circular. In this statement, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury said that everyone should be aware that no one gets a chance to destroy the environment outside or inside the polling station.
Voting started today at 8 am and will continue till 4 pm. Total voters in 42 wards of the city are 4 lakh 87 thousand 753 people. Here 8 people are contesting for the post of mayor and 360 people are contesting for the post of councilor in general and reserved seats. Out of 190 centres, 132 have been declared 'risky' by law enforcement agencies.
