Japa candidate complained about the SCC election

Nazrul Islam Babul, the nominated candidate of Jatiya Party (JAPA), has alleged that the force of muscle power is being shown at the polling stations in the Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) elections.

He complained and said, "When I came to vote, I saw that muscle strength is being shown here. Someone is going inside with a card hanging around their neck and is threatening and harassing our voters. Our voters are being kicked out from many constituencies.

He made these allegations in response to questions from reporters after casting his vote at Anand Niketan polling station in the city on Wednesday (June 21) at 9:30 am.

He also said that frequent calls are coming, agents are not being allowed inside. They (Awami League) have made a blueprint for vote rigging. I have given agents in all 190 centers. Agents are being kicked out of many centers. Elections will never be fair if muscle power is used like this.

Earlier, Awami League nominated mayoral candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury cast his vote at 8:20 am in Pathantula Shahjalal Jamia Islamia Kamil Madrasa Center of Ward No. 8 of the city.

Voting through EVMs started simultaneously in 364 booths of 190 centers in 42 wards of the city from 8 am on Wednesday. This time CSIC elections are being held with a total of 42 wards including the extended area. The total number of voters is 4 lakh 87 thousand 747 people. Among them 2 lakh 54 thousand 363 male voters and 2 lakh 33 thousand 384 female voters.

8 people are fighting for the post of mayor in Sisik election. However, Islamic Movement of Bangladesh Hafez Maulana Mahmudul Hasan has already left the field by boycotting the election. BNP and its allies boycotted the election since the start of the election. Awami League's Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, Jatiya Party's Nazrul Islam Babul and Zaker Party's Md. Zahirul Alam

On the other hand, 360 candidates are competing for the councilor post. Out of them 273 are in general wards and 87 are in reserved wards (women councillors).
