Sylhet city polls : Five mayoral candidates satisfied with vote

Jatiya Party mayoral candidate in Sylhet City Corporation election. Except for Nazrul Islam (Babul) and independent mayoral candidate Chalah Uddin (Rimon), the remaining five mayoral candidates have expressed satisfaction with the vote. They said that there was fair voting till two o'clock. They have no complaints about the vote.

Awami League mayoral candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury cast his vote at Pathantula Shahjalal Jamia Islamia Kamil Madrasa center of Ward No. 8 around 8:30 am. After talking to reporters, he expressed his satisfaction with the vote. On the other hand, the candidate of Jatiya Party complained that there is no environment for fair elections in Sylhet after giving the Anand Niketan center in the city.

Prothom Alo spoke to the other five mayoral candidates in the contest after the statements of Awami League and Jatiya Party. All but one of them said that the polls were fair. According to them, no untoward incident happened anywhere till two o'clock.

Independent candidate Chalah Uddin cast his vote at Habinandi Government Primary School in Ward No. 27 around 12 noon. He complained to Prothom Alo and said, "I could not give an agent because I was financially weak. However, I have been stopped even though I visited various centers as a candidate. In the afternoon, I can also announce the election boycott. I have doubts about the vote.

Independent candidate Abdul Hanif (Kutu) cast his vote at Chandushah Jamia Islamia Dakhil Madrasa of Ward No. 21 around 8:30 am. Around 2:30 p.m., he said, "So far the voting has been fair." Around 10:30 a.m., Zaker's party candidate, Md., cast his vote at Ward No. 14 Government Pilot High School. Zahirul Alam He said, "Beautiful and fair voting is taking place."

Independent candidate Mushtaq Ahmed Rauf Mostafa cast his vote at Anwara-Matin School and College Center of Ward No. 6 around 10:30 am. He said, "Time is being wasted due to lack of familiarity with EVMs. But so far there has been no mess. Although the voter turnout is low, the vote is fair. On the other hand, independent candidate Md. Shah Jahan Mia told Prothom Alo, "Fair voting is going on." No problem.'

Polling is going on for the fifth time in Sylhet City Corporation on Wednesday. The voting started from eight in the morning and will continue till four in the afternoon. Total voters in 42 wards of the city are 4 lakh 87 thousand 753 people. Although there are 8 candidates for the post of mayor here, Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate Mahmudul Hasan withdrew from the election due to the attack on the candidate of the party in the Barisal city election.
