BNP-police clash in Habiganj : Case against 1000 activists
Two separate cases have been filed against 1,000 activists in connection with the police-BNP clash in Habiganj. On Monday (August 21), two cases were filed under the Police Assault and Explosives Act at Sadar Police Station.
BNP's Central Cooperative Affairs Secretary GK Gauch has been made the main accused in the case. Hundreds of people have been named in both the cases.
Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Khalilur Rahman confirmed the matter and said that a case has been registered. The legal process of the matter is ongoing.
Last Saturday, as part of the central program, the district BNP took out a procession from Shaistanagar area around 5 pm. The procession passed through Shaysta Nagar point and reached Eidgah Road and again reached in front of the party office. At this time, the activists started giving various slogans. At this time, the police stopped.
At one stage, the tension between the two sides broke out and the conflict broke out. The party leaders started pelting bricks at the police. The police also fired tear gas and rubber bullets. Chases and skirmishes took place from time to time.
Hundreds of BNP leaders and activists including the OC of Sadar police station were injured in the two-hour clash. At least 15 people have been arrested in this incident.
