Former state minister Ebadur Rahman Chowdhury d i e s
Former Member of Parliament and State Minister of Moulvibazar-1 (Barlekha-Juri) Constituency Ebadur Rahman Chowdhury is no more (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun).
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital on Wednesday (September 6) at 3 pm.
He was 78 years old. He had been suffering from various ailments related to old age for a long time. At the time of his death, he left behind four daughters, relatives and numerous benefactors.
In 1988, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time as a Jatiya Party candidate from Moulvibazar-1 Constituency in the Fourth National Parliament Election. From the same seat, he was elected as a member of parliament in the fifth, sixth and seventh parliamentary elections of 1991, 1996 and 2001 as a candidate of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
He served as the Minister of State for Relief and Disaster Management during the four-party coalition government. During this time, he made extensive development in the area. BNP candidate Ebadur Rahman Chowdhury was defeated by Awami League candidate Shahab Uddin in 2008 Ninth National Parliament Election. After that, due to old age, he gradually withdrew from the field of politics.
