Roads affected by river erosion in Juri
A huge river breach has occurred in the Gorergaon section of the paved road from Gorergaon to Rubber Dam in Jaifarnagar Union of Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar district. Due to the collapse, there are fears that the entire road will be washed away in the Juri River. Due to the erosion of the road, the movement of thousands of people traveling on this road is now on the verge of closure.
All types of vehicles have been stopped on this road for the last two days. However, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin, MP has given immediate instructions to repair the damage of this road.
On Wednesday (March 29) afternoon, it was seen that the erosion of the Garergaon section of the road has taken a huge form. Residents have blocked traffic with bamboo fences to avoid major risks and accidents. Ordinary people and small students are taking any risk with the better part of the above. Several nearby shops and residences are at risk as the erosion increases over time.
It is known that the local MP and Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin, MP paved the road for the benefit of tourists and farmers traveling on this road along with thousands of people from the villages of Garergaon, Belagoon and Sonapur. But suddenly last Saturday, a slight erosion occurred in the Gorergaon section of the road. Since then, the erosion has gradually increased and has become huge. If the road is not protected quickly, a major accident can happen at any time. At present, the villagers are in panic due to the danger of accidents and the collapse of the road. If the road is not repaired soon, the transportation of agricultural products of Hakaluki Haor farmers will be severely disrupted.
During the conversation, local residents Farooq Mia and Saifur Rahman said that thousands of people travel on this road every day. Along with people's movement, shops and houses are under threat due to the breakdown of the road. If the road is not repaired at high speed, it can cause major accidents at any time.
Juri Upazila Vice Chairman Rinku Ranjan Das said that the Environment Minister has given instructions to the concerned officials regarding the speedy repair of the road. The road will soon be rehabilitated.
Md. Jasim Uddin, Deputy Assistant Engineer of Moulvibazar Water Development Board, said that the water development board has visited the place of the breach. Efforts will be made to protect it.
Juri Upazila Engineer Nani Gopal Das said about the breakdown of the road, I have already inspected the road several times. Initiatives will be taken to repair the road soon.
