Sylhet Sommilito Sangskritik Jote president Liton exempted
Aminul Islam Chowdhury Liton has been dismissed from the post of president of the Sommilito Sangskritik Jote Sylhet due to allegations of oppression of women. At the same time, his alliance's membership in the House of Representatives was cancelled. However, Aminul Islam Liton claimed all the allegations as false.
This information was informed in a circular signed by acting president Shamsul Alam Salim and general secretary Gautam Chakraborty on Sunday night.
Several women in the culture arena are raising allegations of harassment against Aminul Islam Liton. There has been widespread criticism in Sylhet for several days. Such an announcement came from the alliance on Sunday in the face of criticism.
Earlier on Saturday night, a theater organization named Nagarnat declared the accused Aminul Islam Liton undesirable in all kinds of cultural activities in Sylhet.
On Sunday night, the notification of the cultural alliance informed that an emergency meeting of the executive council of the combined cultural alliance Sylhet was held at the office of the alliance on Saturday night. The meeting unanimously decided to suspend Liton.
The decision taken at the meeting under the chairmanship of the vice president of Sommilito Sangskritik Jote Shamsul Alam Selim and the general secretary Gautam Chakraborty said that some serious allegations were published against Aminul Islam Chowdhury Liton in the media and social media a few days ago. In view of this, he was immediately prevented from performing the duties of the President of the Combined Cultural Alliance, Sylhet. Later circumstances and observations made it clear that he had no chance of being associated with the alliance in any way.
Therefore, the executive council of the alliance decided to relieve Liton from the post of president and cancel the membership of the representative council and from now on he is no longer a member of the combined cultural alliance Sylhet. Besides, Shamsul Alam Salim, vice-president of the combined cultural alliance Sylhet, was given the responsibility as the acting president of the alliance.
A woman worker of his theater recently accused Aminul Islam Liton of derogatory comments. In the midst of this discussion, several other women have accused Litton of harassment and harassment on social media. Some of them also complained of being abused as children.
Amid the controversy, two audio clips emerged on social media, purporting to be the two young victims talking to Lytton. In the leaked audio clip, a male voice can be heard apologizing for the abuse.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Aminul Islam Liton claimed that these allegations are false and conspiratorial. He claimed that the male voice in the leaked audio clips was not his, saying they were edited to sound like his voice.
