Fruits market fire in Sylhet, under control after half an hour
A fire broke out in the fruit market at Kadmatoli in South Surma of Sylhet. The fire incident took place around 12:30 noon on Monday. On receiving the information, members of Sylhet Fire Service came and brought the fire under control after half an hour.
Shahnewaz Hossain, a resident of Kadmatoli area, said that he was at home. Suddenly he saw smoke rising. He later found the source of the smoke to be a fruit market. At this time, the businessmen there started running away in panic. On receiving the information, the fire service personnel arrived at the spot and started the work of controlling the fire. Local people and fruit market traders also joined it.
Kadmatoli fruit market trader Rajesh Roy said that the fire took place in the fruit carat (plastic basket) placed on the roof of the second floor of the market. Later, when the fire service was informed, they reached the spot and controlled the fire.
Assistant Director of Sylhet Fire Service. Shafiqul Islam Bhuya said, today around 12:30 noon, the fire service arrived at the scene after receiving information. The fire was brought under control by one o'clock. At this time, six units of fire service work. The extent of the damage and the source of the fire are being investigated, he said.
