Kamalganj in extreme heat, consumers are fedup!
Heavy loadshedding is going on in Kamalganj of Moulvibazar during heavy rush and at the end of Ramadan. There is no electricity in some places even during Sehri. Electricity consumers are getting fed up. There is a severe disruption in production in factories. Farmers are also not able to irrigate the land. Loadshedding is going on for 12 hours in 24 hours as electricity is coming every hour.
According to Moulvibazar Palli Vidyut Samiti Kamalganj Zonal Office, currently there is a demand of 18 megawatts of electricity in the upazila. Against that, 11 MW is available. However, 12 MW electricity is being supplied to the upazila. At present, due to shortage in power generation, load-shedding is going on every hour periodically. Due to continuous load shedding, various types of factories, workshops and business establishments, including tea factories, are suffering severe damage. Besides, irrigation is not possible due to lack of electricity in areas requiring irrigation. As a result, electricity consumers are also becoming fed up.
Shamshernagar market traders Murshedur Rahman Seju, Shipon Ahmed, doctor Abdul Mottakin said, Jubo League leader of Gopalnagar village Zahir Alam Nannu said that at present there is no electricity for one hour after one hour of electricity. Load shedding is becoming extreme after an hour. However, there was supposed to be load shedding at the rate of one hour in the entire upazila. Moreover, there is sometimes no electricity during Sehri. As a result, there has been extreme suffering in public life during the summer. Abdul Matin, a retired engineer of Kamalganj municipal area, said that the country is currently in a good position in power generation. Even so, so much load-shedding in extreme heat is now going out of tolerance. The schedule of loadshedding should be intimated to the public in advance.
In this regard, DGM Mir Golam Farooq of Kamalganj Zonal of Moulvibazar Palli Vidyut Samiti said that the problem should be resolved within a few days. In fact, load shedding is happening due to problems in power generation. But we are trying our best to provide electricity.
