93 kg Baghair fish on sale for Tk 86 thousand in Sylhet
A bagar fish weighing 93 kg was caught in the net of two fishermen named Mukti Mia and Fakhrul Islam in the Kushiara river in Jokiganj, Sylhet. They sold the fish at 86 thousand 500 taka per kg.
Last Monday around 12 noon, the fish was caught in the fence net of the two fishermen in Suparakandi area of Birashri Union of Jakiganj Upazila of Kushiara River.
Chayed Ahmed, a member of the Birashri Union Parishad, told Prothom Alo that Mukti Mia is a poor person. In the last flood, the Kushiaras lost their house due to the erosion of the river. Later, he built a house next to it with the help of locals including the Union Parishad. This time, Mukti Mia and one of his associates got a big fish by throwing a net in the Kushiara river. Good to hear.
Several local people said that Mukti Mia and Fakhrul Islam were fishing in Kushiara river with fence net since Monday morning. At around 12 noon, a huge fish was caught in their net.
After taking the fish home, it weighed 93 kg. They were not getting the required price for selling such big fish. Later, around 4 pm, he cut the fish and sold it for Tk 950 per kg. They got 86 thousand 500 taka.
Fakhrul Islam said, they caught the fish together. After taking it home and selling it at the rate of kg, the two shared the money. Never caught such a big fish before. He was happy to catch the fish.
