Two died on the road in Sunamganj
Two people were killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw in Sunamganj Sadar Upazila. The accident took place in Haluargaon area of Sunamganj Sadar Upazila on Sunamganj-Sylhet road around 11:00 am on Tuesday.
The deceased persons are Hadiul Kamali (38) of Dhaorai village of Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj and Nasir Alam (40) of Anwara upazila of Chittagong.
According to the police and eyewitnesses, a freight truck was heading towards Sylhet from Sunamganj. At the same time, a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw from Jagannathpur was coming to Sunamganj town with passengers. On reaching Haluargaon area at around 11 o'clock, a truck and an auto-rickshaw collided head-on. The autorickshaw overturned and Nasir Alam and Hadiul Kamali died on the spot. Mizan Ahmed of Tegharia area of Sunamganj town and Chail Mia of Majidpur village of Jagannathpur upazila were injured. After receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the dead bodies.
Officer-in-charge of Sunamganj Sadar Model Police Station Ikhtiyar Uddin said that the accident occurred in a head-on collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw. Both bodies were recovered and sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
