Indian SpiceJet to operate flights to Bangladesh and Myanmar

SpiceJet, a budget airline, has announced its plans to enhance international connectivity by initiating flights from India's North East region to Bangladesh and Myanmar before the end of June.

On its 18th anniversary, which took place on Tuesday, SpiceJet said it had undertaken a "restructuring exercise" in order to alleviate financial burdens and reduce liabilities, The Economic Times reports.

According to reports from Indian media, the airline aims to reintroduce four grounded planes, including two Boeing 737 aircraft, into service by June 15.

The airline in a recent statement said two international UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik) flights would be launched on the Agartala-Chittagong-Agartala (India-Bangladesh) and Imphal-Mandalay-Imphal (India-Myanmar) routes by the end of the next month.

In addition, SpiceJet is actively working to reactivate 25 of its grounded aircraft. Its current objective is to reintroduce two Boeing 737s and two Q400s into service by June 15, with additional aircraft scheduled to resume operations in the subsequent weeks, as stated in an official press release cited by Indian media.
